Daniel 7:1-28, 1 John 1:1-10, Psalm 119:153-176, Proverbs 28:23-24
Pray: Dear God, I thank You for my job. You have provided me with a steady income and I thank You. I pray that You watch over me today at work and I pray that there are no accidents, so that everyone can go back to their homes. I thank You that my job has provided an income to support me and my family. I thank You for the provisions that You have given to me, my house, car and food. I pray for safe travels to and from work and I pray that You will use me as You see fit today for Your Glory. Amen.
Read: Have you ever had a dream that you wondered what it meant? Ever had one to scare you? I rarely remember my dreams but every once in a while I will have one that is so vivid that it is difficult to differentiate from reality. Daniel dealt with that in today’s reading. We read of more supernatural occurrences it would seem, but as we continue we find that, as is the case with most dreams, there is some significance behind them. Unlike your dreams, maybe, Daniel was able to determine what his dreams meant by asking one of the characters in his dream. The second portion of the Daniel passage is the character's explanation of what the dream meant.
Edify: Like 2 Peter, which we concluded yesterday, 1 John is also meant to be a book to counter false teachings that were rampant during the time of John, the disciple Jesus loved. John wrote this letter to help to teach struggling Christians determine what was correct doctrine and incorrect doctrine, the difference between light and darkness (truth and error). There is still a lot of false teaching going around today. I love how we can still go to the very same sources that the early Christians were given to help us as we discern between light and dark. Unfortunately, there are many who listen and believe whatever they are told rather than judging the information based on Scripture.
Practice: Today, I challenge you not to park your brain at the door and be critical in your choices. Just because someone says something, doesn’t mean that it is true. I mean, look at all of the fake information and misinformation on the internet. Consider your sources and if you are not considering the Bible as a primary source for living life, I urge you to reconsider your sources!
